Materials Use Investment & Asset Management
The Green Lease Guide
For most tenants, one of the major material impacts of their tenancy occurs immediately after their lease is signed via the fitout of their office space. In partnership with the City of Sydney, City of Melbourne and the New South Wales Government we developed and launched the Green Lease Guide for Commercial Office Tenants designed specifically to help tenants address this issue and inform them of a variety of good environmental choices they can make.
The Guide addresses key areas of material use in tenancy fitout designs, helping tenants to reduce costs and environmental impacts.
Carpet Reuse project
Over the life of an average office building, floor finishes have the greatest single environmental impact of any fixed item. This is because they are typically replaced at the commencement of each new lease. During a refurbishment in one of our buildings in Brisbane recently we took advantage of a new innovative approach by Ontera Carpets. The redundant carpet was taken away, refinished and subsequently selected for reuse in a major refurbishment elsewhere in our portfolio. This not only prevented over 95 tonnes of carpet from being disposed of in landfill (25% typically has been cut to shape, or damaged beyond salvageability), it saved a great deal of money too.
